Dr. King has an extensive background in
the evaluation of community and public health programs,
environmental issues, and science and engineering education.
Technical expertise includes feasibility studies, research
design and methodology, process and impact evaluation, survey
research, instrument development, program planning, and
facilitation of focus groups.

Impact evaluator of the Center for
Substance Abuse
Prevention (CSAP) funded
Community Partnership Project. The evaluation focused on
processes and outcomes directly associated with objectives
specified by the Community Partnership Project to address and
effect change in the use of alcohol and drug by youth and teens
in Summit County.
--Ohio Environmental Protection Agency -
Commissioned to conduct a statewide study of environmental
issues and the concerns of African Americans throughout the
State of Ohio. Conducted a community-based evaluation study
entitled, “An Outreach Strategy for Equity in Environmental
Issues” (OSEEI). The results of the study were published in
the State of the Environment 1995 Report. The OSEEI
study served to assess African Americans’ perceptions, attitudes
and awareness of environmental issues. The study design
incorporated surveys, focus groups, questionnaires, historical
research, and an expert review panel of medical professionals.
--Center for Disease Control (CDC)
– National Children Health Study. Collaborated with the
Community Outreach & Communications Working Group to create
community involvement and outreach strategies and communications
tool to help bring the nation’s communities into the design
process as well as engage and sustain their participation for
the life of the study.
--Ohio Board
of Regents’ Student Achievement in Research and Scholarship
(STARS) Committee –
Wrote planning manual for implementing the program.
--Cuyahoga
Community College –
Evaluator
of Middle College Program linked to Cleveland Public Schools.
--Bowling
Green University –
Designed evaluation plan for National Science Foundation
proposal focused on enhancing students performance in
mathematics and science education attending socio-economically
challenged elementary, middle and secondary schools.
